he pomegranate fruit that inspired our logo and company name (‘nar’ means pomegranate in Turkish) is assumed to have originated in Iran and Afghanistan, where the fruit symbolized the soul’s immortality – since being evergreen throughout the year – and the perfection of nature. Many holy scripts refer to the pomegranate seed and pay tribute to the blooming pomegranate tree together with the taste of its fruit, making it the symbol of prosperity, fertility and beauty. Followers of Kabbalah “burst” a pomegranate at home and in work places on religious days to call for fertility and lucrative business, while in modern Turkey many families throw a pomegranate on the floor and “crack” it on the New Year’s Eve to have a plentiful new year.
